Never Turn Your Back on a Friend is Budgie’s third studio album and one of the defining British hard-rock releases of the early 1970s. The album is particularly noted for “Breadfan,” a heavy, riff-driven track later covered by Metallica, and “Parents,” one of Budgie’s more expansive and dramatic songs. It was Ray Phillips’s final studio album with the band before his departure.
